How To Get Paid To Blog

First things first, let me make it clear that this isn’t your standard, “Make Money Blogging” article.

With this approach to blogging, you won’t have to do any of the typical promotional strategies that you would normally have to do when setting up your own blog.

In fact, all you’ll have to do is write the content. And for those of you who already have experience blogging, you’re so ideally suited to make money as a freelance writer, you’ll wonder why you’ve never tried it before.

But how does writing straight content, without your own blog, work? And how exactly can you make money writing articles?

Basically, what you’ll be doing here is content marketing for brands, start-ups, and small businesses. Those businesses that are just getting started selling a product, or don’t have time to create content, need talented writers like you to help them craft premium content for their blogs.

Think about it: does every newly launched business out there have the time, knowledge, and skills to create the top-notch content market for their business?

I’ll let you in on a little secret, they don’t.

How to Use Upwork to Find Blogging Jobs

Want to know how to make money with Upwork?

In my experience, what allowed me to grow my business and start making a serious income online was the acceptance that I wasn’t going to be paid premium rates until I became an expert in my field.

Let me explain.

On Upwork, you undoubtedly will find jobs that provide pretty sub-standard compensation rates.

And guess what?

Understanding that these jobs can help you build a writing portfolio is the key to growing your business.

In particular, take these entry-level jobs, but provide work to your clients at an expert level.

Sure, the payment might not be great. And yeah, you might have to sacrifice some of your time to really deliver on the project. But hey, when you have a raving testimonial on your Upwork profile from a happy client, it will all be worth it.

From there, as your experience grows and your positive testimonials from clients keep rolling in, you can just keep expanding, and ultimately, start charging premium rates that you’ve earned through hard work.

How Much Money Can I Make Writing Articles From Home?

You might be wondering how long it will take to start making serious income. You certainly don’t want to be writing articles at an entry-level position forever.

What you really want is to know how to get paid to blog and how profitable it can be!

I completely understand, but believe me when I say, if you’re consistently delivering expert-level work that receives positive testimonials on your Upwork profile, you will be able to increase your rate over time.

And really, how quickly you make money as a freelance writer, and what level you take that rate to, is entirely within your control.

With freelance writing, the sky’s the limit.

You can use my method to start a side hustle and earn some extra cash, with a couple hours of work/week. Or you can dive in head first, and launch your own writing career, with a dedicated plan.

Decide how much time you’re willing to give, and adjust your expectations accordingly. By no means is this a “get rich quick” scheme, and it’s certainly not passive income, but it is income that allows you to work from home (or really, anywhere in the world!).

  1. This is one thing I have never thought about doing. But it makes sense especially when you are starting out and your blog isn’t making any money yet. I will need to look into this.

  2. This is really great. It’s funny.. I started my blog with the intent to make money solely from affiliate marketing and ads, maybe a product or ebook etc etc.. I’ve found in my first 2 months I’ve made about $60 from ads and $200+ from articles. I had no idea! Wish I would have read something like this when I started. Great article!.. and so true.
