IMPROVING YOUR PRODUCTIVITY AS A BLOGGER
Productivity is an essential element of achieving success as a blogger or writer. The more productive you are, the better you will achieve. You may often experience days when you feel you have not got enough done and you are not sure why.
Using the following tips will help you to become more productive when writing as a blogger.
GET ENOUGH SLEEP
When you are tired, it is difficult to focus and this will impact on the quality and quantity of writing that you complete. It can also cause you to make more mistakes within your writing, and fixing these problems takes time that you could better spend moving onto your next blog.
Try to set yourself a routine for going to bed at a set time and getting up at the same time each day to continue with your writing.
PLAN YOUR WORK
Having a proper structure to your day can make a significant difference to what you achieve. At the start of each day, look at the work you must complete and estimate how long each task will take.
Plan your work in priority order and try to stick to the schedule you have set for yourself. By doing so, you are more likely to have a productive day.
Each time you are distracted from your writing, it takes some time to refocus. Avoiding as many distractions as possible is essential for your day to run smoothly. Noise is one of the largest distractions, so make sure that noise is kept to a minimum when writing blogs.
Noise cancelling headphones are a great way of doing this. Emails are another large distraction, so consider getting an app that puts notifications on hold until you are ready to read them.
SET YOURSELF GOALS
Setting goals is a fantastic way to improve productivity and keep you motivated. You should have both short and long-term goals to work towards.
These can include the number of words you want to write in a set time, how many articles or chapters you need to complete, or monetary goals that involve earning a specific amount by a given time.
CHOOSE YOUR TOPICS CAREFULLY
It is easier to write about topics you have experience of or knowledge in so you will write these pieces quickly. Opting for topics in which you lack knowledge can lead to you spending time researching a topic.
This is fine if you are being paid for the piece you are writing and the time you put into researching the topic.
TAKE REGULAR BREAKS
People often make the mistake of not having a break as they believe they are more productive if they carry on working. However, this is not the case and taking breaks is essential.
By continuing to work on your writing, you will suffer fatigue and this will slow down your progress. It also becomes increasingly difficult to concentrate and focus on the task at hand.
The quality of your writing will suffer as a result. By taking a break, you are refreshing yourself and this will help you to maintain your levels of concentration and focus.
Sitting comfortably is vital if you are to remain focused on your work. Any discomfort will distract you and may even cause you pain that prevents you from working.
As a blogger, you will spend long periods of time sitting at a desk, or on a chair, so having an ergonomic office chair is really important. Your muscles, joints and spine are supported by an ergonomic office chair and this reduces the discomfort you feel when sitting at your desk for hours. As they are adjustable, you can set them to the perfect position for you.
THINGS TO DO ON QUIET DAYS
Writing is often an unpredictable career. If you write blog articles for other people, there are some days you will have more work than you can handle and other days you will have no work at all.
If you are a creative writer, you may have days when you are lacking inspiration and suffering from writer’s block. On the quiet days, it does not mean you are destined for unproductivity as there are several ways you can use the time.
First, you can catch up with your invoices and admin. Second, you can spend time looking for potential new clients or writing competitions. Finally, you can write your own blog as this can potentially raise awareness of your writing skills and can become an additional source of income over time.
Productivity is an import ant element of your success as a blogger or writer. Using these tips, you will soon find that you are becoming more productive each day and making a success of your writing.
